I let this site go cold toward the end of 2023’s West Coast Ride. Sorry about that. While I didn’t finish the uploads for the last few days of that ride, when I came back to wake it up just now, it appears that the days after day 8 that I’m pretty sure I posted have disappeared. I may try to put together some of the photos from those days in a single wrap-up post; stay tuned.
Since that ride, I rode a 6 day Rotary-sponsored tour of Idaho, Washington and British Columbia in September 2024 with my friend Caryn. It seems to be an annual event. It is well supported with great scenery. That the first day is a century (102 miles) with 6600 feet of climbing means that you need to put in the same kind of preparation as you might for a longer tour. (I tend to let my cycling go in favor of golf and skiing.) Their web site seems to be down as I write this but search for the WACANID ride. Highly recommended. Caryn is talking about going back some day.
Now why wake up the site now? For another ride, of course. Beginning this weekend, I’ll be riding Cycle of Life Adventures’ southern tier ride from San Diego, California, to St. Augustine, Florida, a little less than 3,000 miles in 45 days. Here’s an outline of the route:
I’ve blogged every significant ride I’ve done and I’m not stopping now. My earliest effort was quite wordy, over time, less so. Come back for basic stats and photos as always, with some commentary.
