Day 17 – Whiteville, NC to N. Myrtle Beach, SC

56 miles, 750 feet of climbing

Before leaving the hotel, Mike gave a bicycle handling skills clinic, giving us various exercises to practice later. The weather had the potential to be hot and humid but intermittent clouds helped moderate the temperatures to a mostly comfortable point.

Today’s photos:

Shortly after entering South Carolina I hit some unexpected rain, not quite the downpour that others ahead of me reported but enough to cause a chain clean and re-lube.

A North Myrtle Beach resort. Our Best Western was another mile or two to the south of this one of many resorts.

There are quite a few multistory condos and hotels in the vicinity of our hotel. Not so much for places to eat. The operating assumption must be that people will drive for thoseĀ  things. Not as easy for us. I did have a very good Open Faced Reuben at Molly Darcy’s, down the beach a block or two.
