Day 22 – Walterboro, SC to Savannah, GA

74 miles, 780 feet of climbing

Pretty flat, humid, all repeating recent days. Even a bit of mist to begin with. The route largely followed route 17 South, crossing I-95 several times. Some small towns, such as Ridgeland

and waterways.

Those clouds eventually drenched me twice while on the frontage road with no shelter. I also had to wait out some thunder for a while at a Catapilar dealer.

Savannah port from afar

The final rain came just as I was entering Savannah’s outskirts. I sat that out at a convenience store and finished the ride to the hotel.

Enough with the rain

I still made pretty good time and the rooms weren’t ready so I changed out of my soaked cycling clothes and took a stroll on the Savannah waterfront.
