Day 35 Fond du Lac to Manitowoc, Wisconsin

62 miles, 1788 feet climbed

An easy day, relatively speaking. Our hotel was on the south side of Fond du Lac, just within the city limits. In 2004, we were right downtown and even that was a long walk to see Lake Winnebago, but I did it, only to be late for route rap. Luckily ABB routed us up right by the lake on the way out of town.

As you can see from the route trace, we did get very close to Lake Michigan before turning north to Manitowoc. Low clouds and fog prevented us from seeing the water and the air temps dropped quite a bit; I was glad to tack a little inland on the way to tonight’s hotel.

Downtown Kiel
I remembered this water reflecting photo from 2004 and made an effort to recreate it again this time. Luckily, it was still on the route and the water was still calm. This is in Kiel.
2019 version. Notice the new deck. and possibly an extension on the rear.
